i only assume it is a login screen because it looks like SLIM, but please find the picture attached

no mouse or xfce desktop loaded which also makes me think it was a login screen

a corrupted upload could be as likely as a corrupted download, are you trying to replicate by downloading the file again or by using the one you have saved locally from when you made nOS for the pi ?

Have you fully formatted the SD Card. It has some problems with cards with artifacts of previous operating systems and files. During setup make sure that you don't have a network cable plugged in as this is a known bug in the installer application.

i have reinstalled the may version without the ethernet plugged in and a fully formatted SD card, all went well until it rebooted and i was greeted by a login screen (SLIM i think ?) but nowhere to type in the user details.

i tried blind typing the user details with no success and still can't access another tty

the exact same happens for the april version

It seems to work for me. Can you please inform me what model Pi you have and what colour the headphone jack is.

Is the SD Card larger than 4GB?

Could you try redownloading the May version as the download may be corrupt. I will try on a number of my other pi's and try to replicate the issue.

i have a model B the headphone jack is black

SD card is 4 GB, can try with an 8 GB ?

i will have to re-download/re-install tomorrow morning when back from work, ill report back ASAP

You can use an 8GB SD card. Let me know how it goes.

i re-downloaded, re-formatted my SD cards and re-installed and the same thing happens, i get to what looks like a login screen but nowhere to input the details

blind typing the user details doesn't lead anywhere and trying to open another tty doesn't work either

i tried with both 4 GB and 8 GB SD cards, 2 of each, different makes but all which have had pi operating systems on them previously so i know they work for this purpose

you had any luck replicating this ?

I have not been able to replicate it. I have three raspberry pi's all of which it works on. Can you add a link to a photo of what appears on this 'login screen'. Thanks

i only assume it is a login screen because it looks like SLIM, but here is the picture

I have downloaded multiple copies from the website and they work. Can you confirm you are using the May Edition. Unfortunitley the picture is not displaying. Could you use an external service or try again. If it is displaying the pi logo in the top left corner and no mouse or keyboard this is usual for first boot and the system should be available in a few minutes. It is just the first boot preparations.

i can confirm it was the may edition that i downloaded, this one :

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/nos/files/Infinity/nos-infinity-0514-rpi.zip/download

it does not display the pi logo in the corner, just boots straight to the screen in this picture, no command line data scrolling up the screen at boot just the raspberry pi boot splash screen (the colourful square) then a black screen with no logo then this :

i have left my pi for over 30 minutes on the off chance it was being slow, but nothing happened just stayed at the screen i linked

Ok. That is the boot screen. As soon as this message is displayed could you press CTRL+ALT+F3 and let me know what it hangs on (you may need to press escape first)

as stated in one of the previous posts pressing CTRL+ALT+F1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 even when i press ESC first it still does nothing :(

i'm going to try a diff keyboard/mouse/monitor tomorrow and if that doesn't work try installing on one of my friends Pi's to see see if it installs there

    i'll report back tomorrow

Have you been able to try it. If you press CTRL+ALT+F3 when the Raspberry Pi Logo appears at the top what happens.

    Thanks

sorry for the delay in replying

different keyboard/mouse/monitor has made no difference apart from 1 monitor which showed me the raspberry logo in top corner before the screen i linked, pressing ESC then trying CTRL+ALT+F3 still doesnt do anything even on the monitor which showed the logo

tried on 2 other pi's, the same type as mine, model B 512 mb black jack, same things happens, tried fresh downloads everything, no ethernet and everything else, even tried my friends cards too

really lost as to why it wont work :(

Have you tried to just press CTRL+ALT+F3 when the pi logo appears but before the screen.

You may want to try another SD Card as it could be something to do with corrupt areas.

hi, sorry for the long delay in posting, real life took over :(

CTRL+ALT+F3 does nothing at the pi logo screen, i have tried every SD card i have and i get the same results, after recent events i wont be able to geek/play as much as i would like to so think im just going to leave it at that.

i hope you manage to replicate this and figure out what is wrong, thanks for the help in trying to figure this out

I have tried a lot of SD Cards, Raspberry Pis, Monitors, Keyboards and Mice. A final question are you using HDMI or the Composite input.

I will continue to try to replicate this on my pis.
    Thank You

i have tried HDMI on its own and HDMI thru a converter to VGA, both with the same results

on the plus side i didn't have to edit the config file to get it to work with the VGA converter like i do with most other OS's i have tried

    thanks
