Please Note that the 32bit edition of nOS 1.5 has a few issues regarding the OEM Feature. I advise you to not use the OEM Feature in 32bit nOS. For more details see bug Number 4.
nOS 1.5 introduces a new feature that allows you to configure a computer for shipping or giving to someone else.
This feature allows you to create a user during setup. Once setup is complete you logon with this user and you add any applications you may need. When you have finished adding applications you open the System Menu and click Prepare for shipping to end user. When you restart your computer the user will be asked a few questions about their new computer (similar to the ones asked during nOS setup). To learn how to use this feature follow the tutorial below.
How to Trigger oem-config
- Install nOS and install some applications on your user account
- Open the main menu and click Applications then System. Then click Prepare for shipping to end user
- Enter your password
- When you get the prompt saying oem-config will run on next restart click ok.
- Shut down the computer. This will remove all your user data off the computer.
- Your computer is now ready to give away or ship.
How to configure a new computer:
- Turn the computer on
- Select a Language and click continue
- Select a Time Zone and click continue
- Select a Keyboard Layout and click continue
- Enter your user data and computer name then click continue
- Setup is now configuring your computer. This will take a while. The screen may go black during this process
- Setup will then log you in or come up with a login prompt depending on how you configured your login.
- nOS is now setup with your user.
