It works but the contacts sync to the display name in Thunderbird, which will sync back to the phone all under the Last name field. This will combine the First name and Last name fields after a restore link (or syncing a new name from Thunderbird down to the phone). Other fields, such as Address fields don't sync either.
Just beware.
