The message means that Thunderbird has not been able to locate the DLL (windows dynamic load library) called "noksync.dll". This is very strange, since it is part of the extension, and you obviously have the extension installed.
First please verify, that you have the file "noksync.dll" in the directory named something like:
C:\Documents and Settings\xxx\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\yyy\extensions\NokSync@KaarPoSoft.dk\components
In the same directory there is a file called "INokSync.xpt".
Try renaming this file to "noksync.xpt", and start Thunderbird again.
If this fails, please let me know the version of Windows, Thunderbird, and NOKIA PC Suite you are using,
and I will try to investigate further...

I have installed version 1.0.18 and the problem reported above has gone.
However the extension now fails when trying to connect to the phone. I have installed the latest version of Nokia PC Suite.
Nokia PC Suite is running and I can do a sync using this crap software. I say crap because the new version of Nokia PC suite has duplicated all the contacts in my Windows address book so now I have to go and edit it!
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I have upgraded to 1.0.29
I am still running TB 1.5.0.8
When I try to synchronise, I get an error message that a connection could not be made. I selected the "Launch SMS editor" and this opened the Nokia Text editor.
A connection could still not be made.
My phone is connected to the Nokia PC Suite.

I to have attempted the software with same faults for a 9300i, i have contacted Nokia regarding the compatibility problems with PC Suite and they say basically that it is up to Mozilla to resolve the problem. There are not enough thunderbird users out there! Any help to resolve this would be extremely appreciated, I am no programmer. I am sure people would pay for a sync version just to resolve this. KJCN

I am sorry, but the answer you have got from NOKIA does not match very well with their policy regarding their API's!
There are programmers out here (myself included) who would much like to help, but as long as they require us to PAY for the specs of the API, it is the same as a closed door!
Are you planning to support the Nokia 9xxx Series?
If so, any idea when?
Hi,
Unfortunatly "Nokia PC Connectivity SDK 3.0" does not support the 9xxx series,
and I don't have a 9xxx.
However, with some programming skills it should be possible to modify NokSync
to use "Nokia PC Suite Connectivity API 1.1". See http://forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/bd896b31-92ba-4624-aa9d-ebf732e7cc0d/Nokia_PC_Suite_Connectivity_API_1_1.html
If you or somebody else would like to take on the task, I will be happy to assist!
Rgds,
Henrik
Thanks
Unfortunately I am not a programmer, just a desperate end user!
What language would you develop in?
NokSync has a small interface written in C++ and the main part of the code is JavaScript.
But the statement of compatibility (62xx and 71xx) from NOKIA is from year 2002,
and I think NokSync may work on many other NOKIA phones as well.
Why don't you try it with your 9xxx, and let us all know if it works?
Will do
I have loaded the extension and select the Personnel Address Book
When I click "Go" I get the following error message:
Unable to load the NokiaPhoneInfo DLL (INokiaPhoneInfo in @KaarPoSoft.com/NokSync/NokiaPhoneInfo;1)
Please verify your NokSync Extension installation
Detailed error message
ErrorType: c has no properties
How do I resolve this? What causes this?

THERE IS NO ENTRY WITH "noksync"
sorry, I forgot to include the following:
Version of:
Windows - XP Pro with all latest upgrades
Thunderbird - 1.5.0.8
NOKIA PC Suite - 6.80.22
I think I have figured out what the problem is, but to solve it I need one more piece of info:
Do you have the following two files in your c:\windows\system32 directory:
msvcp71d.dll
msvcr71d.dll
I guess not, and that is why the extension fails.
But do you have those two files:
msvcp71.dll
msvcr71.dll
If you do, the solution is easy, otherwise some more work is needed...
In my compreg.dat no noksync is not found.
I am using Windows XP, Nokia PC Suite 6.82.22.0, Thunderbird 1.5.0.8
I DO NOT have the files
msvcp71d.dll
msvcr71d.dll
I DO have the files
msvcp71.dll
msvcr71.dll
Same problem here, I tried to copy msvcp71.dll to msvcp71d.dll and msvcr71.dll to msvcr71d.dll
but this does not help.
Please try out the new version 1.0.18.
I believe the problem you have all reported has been solved.
I have installed version 1.0.18 and the problem reported above has gone.

I have a Nokia 9500 and I have tried all your recommendations and still no success. What more could be done to get it working??
It cann't work. Nokia 9xxx is not supported at a time. You should "stay tuned" on a forum for an update, Hendrik is doing his best.
