This is a maintenance release with minor bug fixes, minor parsing improvements.

However this release has major SQL improvements. Because of the improvements all NOAHweather admins will need to rebuild their database tables.

All users are advised to upgrade for major speed improvements

Specifically, snow, so those of you living in colder climates should appreciate the updates. Notably, in the bug department was a glitch in getWarnings where the database was never properly updated. This would cause NOAHweather to run extremely slow if an advisory was in effect for the selected location. This has been fixed and error-checking improved. A couple bug fixes were found and squashed but the major change from 5.0 is that Bill had switched our database configs to use a more clash resistant naming scheme but I had not updated the database files or data to match. This release fixes that....or should anyway

The latest stable code has been released. Along with the release of 0.5.0 we have started a NOAHweather community where donations help support a more robust infrastructure on which to run the NOAHweather code. If you havent been to the noahweather.org website in a while stop in.

This latest release merges our standard and phpNuke support into a single code base. This version also transitions us to a class based PHP structure as well as supporting the use of style sheets

Due to recent meteorological events at my location, project development has been delay.

Translation: Hurricane Isabel knocked out my power for 8 days and "real world" activities have kept the rest of my free time occupied.

Hope to release a v050 tarball soon. The current delay is completion of an installer for the database.
If you don't need the installer and you absolutely have to have the latest and greatest, check out the CVS as the final code probably won't change much.

This would be me, since I'm the newest developer here for NOAH Weather. I'm glad to help out with project. As Tyler's been busy with his first child lately (Congradulations! Tyler), I've been at the forefront of the development lately. To give you a preview of what to expect, here's a development summary.

Development of Version 0.4 has been quite volatile. It saw a short lived attempt at XML by Tyler. (Hopefully, XML will find it's way back into the mix in a later version.) It was also where the switch over to the use of classes began, that's where I came on board with the project. It's been a very transitional piece of code, as such, it will not be offically released. Tyler has chosen instead to move on to v0.5. On the flip side, expect to see v0.5 released by the end of the month. It's completely redesigned and W3C compilant. As previously stated, internal operation now uses classes, and style sheets have been introduced to contol layout and appearance. Also, completely by my influence, it will be out-of-the-box compatible with phpNuke, although running phpNuke is NOT a requirement. I was the author of phpNuke-NOAH. Development on phpNuke-NOAH has ceased since it's now part of the main branch.... read more
