OK, this is kind of off-topic, but here's a related idea for SMTP: http://www.deadly.org/article.php3?sid=20021220021332 describes a nifty approach -- when mail comes in from a known open relay, a special mail daemon handles it by reporting temporary failure. This leaves the mail on the open relay's outgoing queue, eventually disabling the open relay! This is wonderful -- without any nasty behavior, it would eventually either plug all the open relays or force their sysadmins to fix them. Dave Cross wrote: > Thanks for the suggestion.
