What's new

  • This new version is the fourth release of the Nitrux 1.2.x series.
  • We've updated Waterfox to version 2019.10 Current.
  • We've updated the kernel to version 5.3.13.
  • We've updated KDE Plasma to version 5.17.3, KDE Frameworks to version 5.64.0, KDE Applications to version 19.08.3, and Qt 5.13.2.
  • We've updated znx with new a check-update feature. This feature will allow users to check for updates without applying them.
  • Nitrux is now dpkg-free.
  • We've updated znx-gui to be compatible with the updated znx code. Znx-gui is also now added as an AppImage.
  • We have updated firejail and appimaged. We now utilize the AppImage file of appimaged.
  • Improved the boot speed of Nitrux. It can now boot in 10 seconds (from GRUB menu entry selection to desktop).
  • We've updated the Welcome Wizard with new slides containing information that is more useful for first-time users.
  • We added nativefier. Nativefier allows users to create web apps very quickly. Currently, nativefier does not have a GUI, but we will include one in future releases. To access it, open Konsole and type the command: nativefier, to create a web app type: nativefier --"Name" "Web URL." The resulting web app will be located in the home folder of the user.
  • Our ISO now makes use of the znx INFO file to manage updates.
  • We also include npm, and we have configured it to allow the installation of npm packages to the home directory and without requiring sudo.

Known issues

  • AppImage icons may be missing from the application launcher on first boot, press Alt+F2, and type latte-dock --replace then press Enter.
  • Only American English appears as a language in the Regional Settings KCM. We are tracking this problem here: https://github.com/Nitrux/nitrux-bug-tracker/issues/4.
  • Waterfox Current AppImage is missing its icon in the application menu on a new user account.

Notes

  • OpenGL accel. Is used by default, if you use Nitrux in a VM open System Settings>Monitor>Compositor and select XRandr.
