Hi, Reports are coming in from various companies about how they are unable to find people who are willing to commute to work. Why? ==> http://www.lifestylereport.pw The reason for this is that folks are getting more empowered: they now work at their own convenience and on what they want. See here for the tips on making this happen: ==> http://www.lifestylereport.pw Best, Timmy |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Hi folks! Just checked in a new file for testing functionality to write the highscorefile. has to be compiled separately. use something like this: gcc -c -Wall file.c gcc -ofiletest file.o ./filetest less highscore writing this function, some design questions arouse: (1) Just for now there are three different highscores. beginner, normal, expert. thought we reduce the number of levels of difficulty to these three levels. with three highscores scoring does not have to be modified regarding to fairness when playing at "where's-my-lollypop" or "kick-ass" difficulty. (2) how many entries should there be? Good old "Top 10"? (3) whats the maximum number of letters? three? five? seven? more? nice dreams! hollinge |

Tried to get some informations about our planned "ncurses to curses" project for cray-support. But all I found is that BSD curses is deprecated and one should use ncurses. Nevertheless curses seems to be fully supported by ncurses, so we could give it a try... Now for this, I just don't know how to test it. Don't have a Cray at home. Any ideas? Greetings hollinge |

hi! i just announced ninvaders 0.1.1 at freshmeat. should be on the homepage in a couple of hours. one word about your planned highscorelist: if you REALLY want to implement it, put that highscorefile to /usr/local/games/. that is a standard on every unix-distribution. don't get fancy and put every- thing to /usr/share/var/lib/man/ninvaders/highscore/lists.dat, if you know what i mean. just stay simple. on the other side, you have to modify the makefile, and add a "make install" section to it. just use those lines for it: mkdir /usr/local/games cp nInvaders /usr/local/games chmod 2755 /usr/local/games/nInvaders chgrp games /usr/local/games/nInvaders ln -s /usr/local/games/nInvaders /usr/local/bin AND for the finishing touch: replace /usr/local with $PREFIX *g* have fun! -- ________________________ __ ____ / / __/__ __/__ __/ / / // _/ / / / _/ / / / / / /_/ /_\ \ Because of copyright issues, this mail /___/___/ /_/ /_/ /_____/____/ was crypted with ROT-26. |

I have tracked down the bug, which is responsible for freezing the game when the last alien is shot. If aliensMissileMove in aliens.c is called although there's no alien left, there is no possibility to leave the while loop at line 240. So I added 'shipnum > 0' to test if there's an alien left to start a missile. segoh |
