This is related to the not-null reference to the containing object.  There is a failing but ignored test committed for this.  Basically, this is a long standing issue where NHibernate issues extraneous updates that try to update the reference to the containing object to null when those objects are just about to be deleted.  The same invalid update happens when an object is removed and reinserted.

Please note that NHibernate does not support bidirectional one-to-many associations with an indexed collection (list, map or array) as the "many" end, you have to use a set or bag mapping.
