I like to do step by step analysis on the execution of a Ngspice source code working (like using break point, step into etc).

Is it possible to do it in the general compilers/debuggers, like dev C++/Turbo C?'

I asked this, because am not sure whether debuggers support debuuging following things in the program:
    1. Threads 2.Pipes 3. Signal handlers 4.Setjmps etc

How you guys do such analysis??

    Thanks

    Hi,

debugging should typically closely be linked to compilation.

If your OS is MS Windows, I recommend MS Visual Studio. Visual C++ 2010 Express  which comes for free has a very nice debugger !

If your OS is LINUX, compilation is done with gcc, so debugging should be done with gdb. As a graphical front-end I did some work with KDbg (http://www.kdbg.org/). There may be others, even better ones.
