Hey all, Attached is the torrent for Linux ICE Alpha 3. I installed this last night on my test machine (Epia 600MHz). It ran very well, and boot times seemed a little faster for that machine. I haven't timed it but I removed readahead from booting so it has to be faster right? Here are some of the other key highlights: -Moved base from Edgy to Feisty -newer kernel -new software -nGhost runs on startup -Much smaller ISO size (100mb less than alpha 2) -Faster boot times (hopefully, we might need to test with bootchart to make sure this is accurate). -gpsd client boots with machine There will be an Alpha 4 release before the first beta. I still want to build in a Suspend 2 kernel. I think I've figured out how, I just need to test it out. The live cd kernel isn't located in /isolinux/root/boot its in /casper. Hopefully I can just copy the vmlinuz and the initrd.img there and build it and everything will be great... You are the Linux ICE mailing list subscribers so you get first downloads of the torrent. Big thanks, Kev |
