Hey all, Fist I just want to say great work to the Linux ICE team. I really think that we accomplished our goals in this release. Our build system is really shaping up. The scripts were excellent, the package lists where a big improvement, and the graphics where stunning. Great job! I hope you all have had the opportunity to try out Alpha 2. The excitement level surrounding the release was very high. I'd like to hear some feedback on what you think that we need to improve. Some things are obvious such as: -Linux ICE splash goes away when you install (there is a fix for this that we can add to the scripts) -Shutdown splash is still the xubuntu splash -nghost fails to start (it tries and then dies for unknown reasons) I also want to start an open discussion for the planning of Alpha 3. Attached is a rough outline of things we will need to do to get all of the features into the release. nGhost will needs a lot of work and I want to get another stable version out to include in Alpha 3. A few things are in the works: -two new classes that will improve the code and allow for the transition into the Linux ICE skin. -proper installation: .conf files in /etc/nghost, the binary in /sbin and the skin in /usr/share (I think). -new cell phone style searching gui (complete). I'm setting up the sourceforge page. I've got eubey and n2o_2k added to the project. I don't remember if gladier's sourceforge user is just gladier. I'll get everything up on SVN so we can get started. More details of that to come (this email is getting long). Take care, Kev |
