There's a beta version of the NewsML Toolkit 2.0 now available for download. Version 2.0 adds the ability to create and modify the NewsML tree programatically; see especially the NewsMLFactory, BaseNode, Text, and DataContent interfaces for new methods. All the best, David -- David Megginson da...@me... |

The final version of the open-source Java-based NewsML Toolkit 1.1 is now available for download from SourceForge: http://newsml-toolkit.sourceforge.net/ This release fixes several bugs and relaxes conformance testing for DataContent/@Href. The NewsML Toolkit is a Java library for processing packages of news syndicated using the IPTC NewsML standard and for testing conformance. To learn more about NewsML, see http://www.newsml.org/ For live NewsML samples, visit http://newsshowcase.rtrlondon.co.uk/ Again, this version was produced with the kind support of Reuters PLC. Version 1.1beta of the NewsML Toolkit is now available for download at http://newsml.sourceforge.net/ This version is an extensive rewrite of version 1.0 released last spring: it includes full XPath support, high-level support for formal names and basis-for-choice selection, and an extensible conformance test library. Over 300 unit tests are included. The NewsML Toolkit is Open Source (LGPL), and may be used in free or commercial software products, following the provisions of the license. Work on version 1.1 of the NewsML Toolkit has kindly been sponsored by Reuters PLC. All the best, David -- David Megginson da...@me... |

This week, I plan to add getChildCount and getChild methods to the BaseNode interface; once those changes are in place, there will no longer be any reason to maintain the PrimaryNode interface, since BaseNode will have all of the same functionality (though in a slightly different form). I hope to have the changes committed to CVS by the end of the week for anyone on the bleeding edge, and they will show up in the official 1.1beta release later this summer for those who would rather wait. Comments are welcome, as always. All the best, David -- David Megginson da...@me... |
