No

I added a guitar tab to NeverNote and after some time (about 5 hours) it got corrupted. Nothing was lost, but the formatting was totally screwed up. The guitar tab had chords above the text of the verse. These chords were links and it seems NeverNote had problems with them. At least got they affected the most by getting shifted and parts of the white space before and after was made a link, too.

Example:

Original:
---------

Gm
Have no fear
F
For when I'm alone

Scrambled:
----------

Gm

Have no fear

F

For when I'm alone

To reproduce:

It was "Long Nights" of Eddi Vedder from this site: http://www.911tabs.com/link/?6167096
So I just copied the tab (only the monospace font part of the page) and pasted into NeverNote.

Well, the example above is not quite right. Sourceforge removes whitespace in front of the chords. But I guess the whitespace count is not too important for this ;-).

Thanks for the report. Can you include two screen shots? On of the text you selected on the web page and one with what it looked like afterwards?

Unfortunately I can't take HTML as-is from most web pages. There are typically two problems. The first is that HTML is typically very poorly formed and converting it to XML can be tricky. Sometimes NeverNote has to take a best-shot at cleaning it up. That can cause some formatting differences.

The second problem is that there are more tags & attributes in HTML than I can put in a note and pass Evernote's XML validation. Some things need to be removed or it will fail when you sync.

I'm not sure either of these happened with this page, but I'll see if I can find something that can help.

    Thanks.

I've added some screen shots. The text scrambling now looks a bit different, but still occurs. The first image shows the selection on the tab website. I copy this and paste it without formating (Ctrl+Shift+P) into NeverNote (image two). After the pasting it is alright, but some times (not always :-/ ) I get the scrambled text (image three) when I reopen the note (i.e. selecting another one and reselecting the original one). And if there once was this scrambled version I never got back the original version.

I also have a few similar text data alteration problems:
    - setting existing text in bold added a space in from of the text.
    - copy (text only) from a web-page, then modify the text, sync, and text layout changed after the sync

I don't lose any of the text, just the layout changes but it's getting really annoying.

Is there any update on this issue?

There is not a whole lot that can be done at this time. Even if you are only copying text the html underneath may have odd/poorly formatted tags. In order to synchronize eith Evernote the program needs to change the html to properly formatted XML that conforms to their markup format.

If the html is poorly formatted, the program does a best guess in fixing it. This can cause the note formatting to change.

I recommend using their web clipper to gather information from web pages and synchronizing. Their method of cleaning up html is better than the methods I have available.

I get the same kind of problem, though it is now less frequently a spacing issue and more often a problem with strikethroughs and bold. When I have a strikethrough on a line near the top and another futher down, synchronisation, closure and then re-opening of NixNote causes the strikethroughs to be spread over nearly the entire note, rendering them useless for showing what has been done and what is yet to do on a to-do list.

Closing as being very old. NixNote2 is the best thing to try to correct the issue.
