Hi,

I'd like to request that the NixNote splash screen be removed. It offers no useful functionality (launch notification is really a responsibility of the OS / window manager), and it obscures other applications.

I'm a developer myself so I'd be happy to submit a patch to remove the splash screen. But I thought I'd check first to see if that'd be something you'd consider.

Yours,
Duncan

Hi Duncan. You can disable the splash screen under Edit/Preferences.

Hi Randy, sure. I guess my point was that I think splash screens detract from the app, & should either be removed or disabled by default. I know that's a controversial position, which is why I thought I'd start a discussion.

On the Java NixNote 1.x versions it does serve a purpose. If you have a very large account it can take a few moments to start, so it helps provide some clarification that it is doing something. Without it people may try to start it twice which results in a different error & can cause confusion.

On the NN2 C++ version it starts much more quickly, so I can see disabling it by default.
