#12 Endless beachballs, then a crash

Okay, so I start up the program, and there's a spinning
beachball of death. I open a file, there's a spinning
beachball of death. Try to open the conversations,
beachball. Try to save the file, beachball. This goes
on for around five minutes, and then it "unexpectedly
crashes". It's basically unusable.

My system is pretty nice, a newish iBook with a 1.2 GHz
processor and 768 mb of RAM. The mod I'm trying to
edit is around 14 or so mb. Any help would be really
appreciated!
