Especially for the S7-1200/S7-1500 controllers, there are incompabilities due to the authentication mechanisms of these controllers.
As the PLCSIM versions are using different keys, not all client software versions are able to establish a connection to PLCSIM. As NetToPLCSim acts as a bridge to the underlying S7ONLINE interface, this is not something that can be fixed inside NetToPLCSim.
This does not concern the Put/Get communication with absolute addresses.
The following table gives some combinations which were tested with NetToPLCSim V1.2.4:
