[Netsurf-develop] Work around for broken PS printer driver

Dear developers,

How happy was I to read that version 2007-06-10 00:25 had a work around for
the broken PS printer driver (I have an Iyonix).

However, no matter what I try, NetSurf quits with a serious error detected,
leaving a log file of several megabytes. I don't object to sending that,
but I wonder if you want to receive it!

The work around is only for RO 3 or 4, not 5.

The problem on 5 is different.

I seem to have missed this announcement but it works!  On RO 4.39.

At last a reason to make Netsurf my primary browser.  Well done - whatever
it was that was done!

Is the problem that RO 5 printing system is basically the same as RO4s 
and doesn't do unicode whereas the screen display does?

If so, would it be possible to make the behaviour the same as on RO 4 
for printing? (Would this require a change to iconv rather than NS?)

The PostScript printer driver on RO 5 does not support Unicode at all. The 
other printer drivers support one Unicode encoding (UTF-8), but not the 
encoding that NetSurf uses when plotting text (UCS-2).

Yes, it would be possible, but it would be complex and many characters that 
work on screen would not print.

We're hoping that ROOL will release the printer driver sources soon so that we 
can look into fixing them.
