this is already possible, but not via plugins but via
notification. You can specify a pager email address. Put
here the email address of a eMail->SMS Gateway and you're
done. Refer netsaint documentation for details.

usually most cellular carrier companies offer an email
gateway, to something like
<YOURPHONEHERE>@yourphoneprovider.com would go
directly to your phone screen
i'lve also created a program that sends these notifications
by accessing the TELEPHONE provider's webpage and
filling out forms...
If you are interested in such program, please feel free to
contact (andre.ribeiro@unesco.org.br)...
That is... if your phone provider has a web interface for
sending sms messages...

But what happens if what you use for accessing your cell
phone/pager provider's web page (or via email), is down? Let's
say, your need to report that you only link to access the
Internet, and/or your nameserver, and/or your email server,
are down.... Don't tell me it can't happen. Then a application
to have access to something like
<YOURPHONEHERE>@yourphoneprovider.com (the web
page with fillout forms they usually have) doesn't help that
much.
Something that interacts directly to a modem, dials a
(obscure) dialup service on your cell phone/pager provider,
and then sends you the message, all of this skipping your
failed network... That is more practical.
So far I am evaluating yaps, sendpage, sms_client. The
problem is that US cell phone providers are not so friendly
with this kind of systems... Anybody has the parameters for
SprintPCS around there, for any of these apps? Please post
them here!
Regards,
Federico.
