I uninstalled Java, did a power-cycle, I installed Java and did a
power-cycle, opened a cmd window, typed 'java -version' (w/o
quotes), works. Hooray!
So I wanted to continue with chapter 3 of the QuickStart Guide,
just for fun I copied on page 19

> java –version

and pasted it to the cmd window -- and it failes:

So the problem was not Java, it's Adobe Acrobat what jeopardizes
edit/copy-edit/paste to the cmd window. Now nosy I did with it
