    I use NTM 1.2.4 very successful in Ubuntu 10.10. However, in Ubuntu 11.04, NTM still loads but terminates as soon as mobile broadband modem connects. There is no log file but terminal message reads:

    pieter@pieter-MS-7597:~$ ntm
    /usr/share/ntm/run_ntm.sh: line 20:  1732 Segmentation fault      python ntm.py $@ 2>> $logfile

    Any advice?

    I don't see nothing of strange.
    try to execute these 2 commands in a terminal:

    cd /usr/share/ntm/
    python ntm.py

    Now send me the output that you get

  • pieter

    pieter - 2011-07-24

    Output after commands :

    pieter@pieter-MS-7597:/usr/share/ntm$ python ntm.py
    Segmentation fault

    tell me the version of python that you use by this command:

    python --version

    now follow these steps:
    exec this command:

    cd /usr/share/ntm/
    sudo gedit globaldef.py

    At the last line, change the value of the variable DBGMSG_LEVEL to 100
    save and close gedit.
    run ntm:

    python ntm.py

    Send me the output

    I hope to obtain something

    After the standby display shows the traffic to 0.

    Linux can be terminated normally, the consumption is saved. But if you go into standby and wakes up the computer on again, the final consumption level is displayed, as Linux has terminated normally.

    Linux può essere terminato normalmente, il consumo viene salvato. Ma se si va in standby e si sveglia il computer nuovo, il livello di consumo finale viene visualizzata, come Linux ha terminato normalmente.

    Hi Luigi

    Good news!  I installed the 64-bit version of Ubuntu 11.04 and now NTM works fine.  Problem was 32-bit Ubuntu and not NTM.

    Thanks for your interest in this.

    As the program continues working, without I could see it nor control, disconnects me of the network because I have exceeded the allowed giga.

    Hi Luigi
    ntm v1.3 works like a charm in Ubuntu 11.10 (64bit)
    Thanks a lot

    I am using ntm 1.3 on Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit

    1. When I install it, it does not autostart on logon - I have to add /usr/bin/ntm to 'Startup Applications' - is it designed to have to do this?

    2. After adding to 'Startup Applications' it fails to automatically start unless I put a pause into the startup script like so ..

    $ cat /usr/bin/ntm
    #! /bin/bash
    echo " "
    sleep 20
    cd /usr/share/ntm/
    /usr/share/ntm/run_ntm.sh $@

    Hi swiatmar,
    thanks for the notice.
    I found the problem: the error happen when a language translation is not been found.
    I just release the fix in the version 1.3.1.  http://netramon.sourceforge.net/eng/download.html

    Using last version with ubuntu 12.04. It makes network manager to crash after few minutes.
    Do you need  only the log file? Do you need other info?

  • Anonymous - 2012-08-07

    I'm running Gnome 3.2.1 on Ubuntu 12.04, and the status icon is not getting created with ntm 1.3.1.  There was no error in the log file.  I played around with ntmgui.py, and got it to work with a hack.  The trouble is in __init__()

        self.unity_panel = self.ntmo.sys_info["unity.panel"]
        if self.unity_panel:
                    import appindicator
                    self.unity_panel = False

    It seems that if you're running Gnome on Ubuntu 12.04, self.unity_panel will be false.  But you still need to use appindicator in order to control the status icon area.

    I got the status icon to show up by changing the logic to use appindicator, even if self.unity_panel is false.  Sorry I don't know what the real fix is - what condition you should use to detect whether appindicator should be used.

    Hi Daniel, the can be solved by adding these lines:
    in the file ~/.config/autortat/ntm.desktop

  • Luigi Tullio

    Luigi Tullio - 2012-09-26

    Hi bluepicaso,
    it's not possible because ntm does not implement the notify for data
