Hi everyone,

I've done my first *VERY CRUDE* draft of the protocol.  Note that it is
intended as a lock-step protocol, although acking is done at a byte
position level, which means that if new data has arrived between an
original transmission and the retransmission, the retransmission may
include the new data as well.

Again, this is a very crude and early draft.  Please help me pick it
apart and get it fleshed out.
