Yes. The netboot driver model is modular. Currently, netboot uses an internal DOS emulator to directly use DOS driver executables (namely packet drivers and NDIS2 drivers). It is possible to also write native drivers for netboot, and there is all required support for it in the netboot source tree already, but due to limited time no native driver has been implemented as of yet. Gero, Thank you for your comments - they are very useful I am glad you told me the true *Netboot* has nothing to do with netboot subdirectory in the GRUB distribution. Can I use Netboot to load QNX 6.3? This is perhaps more a User mailing-list question - I hope it is OK to ask it here. Hello, I am installing a diskless x86 workstation using Windows CE. It has PXE features and it gets IP address through DHCP server. I've also installed a TFTP server. Both DHCP and TFTP servers are working fine. I created a nk.bin image for WinCE using MS Platform Builder, but I can't make the workstation download it. The file nk.bin is the WinCE kernel image. So I need to put it on the memory and run it. I know I need to use a boot loader to do that. I tried to generate a ROM image using rom-o-matic. It runned fine but I could'nt make it download and run nk.bin. Can you, please, help me ? Thank you very much. Hello, netboot generates broken TFTP request (the 'tsize' param is empty, the server interprets the following 'timeout' literal as this value and fails therefore). The attached patch adds a '0' as value for 'tsize' and removes trailing garbage. Enrico |

Hello: I have this Not enough memory problem, and my disk-less computer (Pentium I 166Mhz)with 16MB ram have this problem to let the Netboot(0.9.1) to boot its kernel after getting through the tftpd server. The computer status: Linux Kernel (2.2.19) server size (510K) diskless nod size (about 371K) DHCP ISC (3.0 latest) DHCP bootpd works tftpd (the latest)works SMC ultra 8416T NIC works I read the problem section of the netboot doc, but it does not help. I am wondering the possibility that the netboot can make the computer ran in advanced mode (32bits), or can it has some kinds memory management, such as himem.sys/emm386.exe under dos, or new memory management just for linux to overturn the problem of PC dos 1MB barrier.
