I just posted 1.5pre7 to sourceforge and freshmeat. It's been *way* too long since the last official release, and there were too many problems being reported that were resolved a long time ago. I'll be packaging up RPMs for this release (and I'm sure Sebastian already has .deb packages ready). If anyone else has any packages for different platforms, please let me know. Besides the CNID database code (which still needs some heavy testing), and bugfixes, there is another change. As of 1.5pre7, netatalk is now being distributed under the GNU Public License (GPL). Versions up to 1.5pre7 can still be modified under the BSD License, and all terms of the BSD License that do not conflict with the GPL are still in force. This decision was made due to the inability to collaborate with Samba (I had a discussion with Jeremy Allison about this a few months ago) to provide a stable Windows/Mac file serving platform, and because many people had voiced their concerns about contributing to netatalk if their code could be taken by proprietary software vendors without those vendors having to give back to the community. If you have any concerns about this licensing change, please let me know. Thanks, Jeff |
