I had problems with netatalk ignoring setgid. But after
trying all combinations of configure-options (for lack
of documentation) I was successful by adding the option
"--enable-dropkludge" (though it says "insecure!").
By also adding the option "--with-flock-locks" I
eliminated the locking-file-problems of Quark.
On top of my list to netatalk-developers:
I would appreciate if there would be an option (e.g.
writelist=@group) to control write access for groups
from the ".AppleVolumes"-files (like in Samba).
(I already tried to change the rwlist in the
".AppleVolumes"-file, but it didn't change write access)
(I am using Redhat 7.1 on i686 with kernel 2.4.2 and
configured netatalk 18.104.22.168 with:
./configure --enable-redhat --sysconfdir=/etc/atalk
