I am receiving an error when trying to start a test simulation, Although the backend is running (the last line is : Simulation environment ready [...]), I am getting the following error :
Could not connect to backend.
Reason : Failed to retrieve RMIServer stub: javax.naming.CommunicationException [Root exception is java.rmi.UnmarshalException: Error unmarshing return header; nested exception is: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: socket write error]
Is the problem caused by something i did not do during installation or configuration, or because there is something missing with my test project since i did not set profiles for all devices ?
Is there some ready projects that i can see or download ? any simulation that surely works to test my environment and software ?
Thank you very much in advance for your support,
Jad Nehme
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Right now i can't think of an obvious reason for the error message. Communication problems usually occur when no active network interface is available.
Note: During simulation execution you will see a warning/error about link failure models, you can ignore this. It is caused by renaming the default failure model in NeSSi2 2.1.2 and the example is based on NeSSi2 2.1.1, but that is the only relevant change you will notice.

Thank you for the example, but i got the same previous error.
Is there some possible troubleshooting steps i can do in order to know what error is causing this ? because in the backend console, the simulation environment is ready.
I read all the previous discussions, but i am a beginner in Nessi2 and could not understand all of them. but i tried all the possible solutions.
Kindly note that when i try to run nessi2.bat as un administrator, i get the following error (inserted as attachmenet)
I am really interesting in fixing the problem i have since i have to present my simulation project on monday morning, do you have any solution ? can I have your email , a phone number to call, or maybe perhaps a connection to a technician or experienced who you trust for a remote desktop diagnostic ?
To identify the actual problem it may be helpful to check the console output in the backend and the log files for the backend. Possible causes are:
A required port is used by another application (or previous crashed, but still existing instances of the backend, check the number of running Java processes=
localhost may not be resolved, if there is no active network interface

here's the solution , first you should set the
1-java enviroment like pic i've attached
2-set apache apache-maven-3.6.0 enviroment (describe in page 11 of manual nessi2)
3-run the backend (if it says can't connect or something like that you should turn off ur Local area connections , and add the loopback adapture then run it again )
4-after backend says it's ready to go run the nessi.exe GUI in menu -> windows -> preferences ->> Nessi {{{{ important , in backend config set this ==>> localhost : 9999 }}} cause backend listens on port 9999 then go down and set the mysql database user pass and schema !
in this way you solve the problem but i stack at this step when i lunch the simulation it error "Can;t connect to database"
but i set the user schema password everthing ok i have no idea whats wrong with it !!
Hi Team I am unable to see any events or record simulation button in my workspace.
Can you please tell me the folder structre and if possible any video of setup
thanks if you could help

An example project can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/nessi2/files/nessi2/2.1.1-beta/Example-Simulation.zip/download

Hi,
I have same problem. Did anyone have some ideas where can be a problem ?
Regards, Vytenis
