    Hi all :)

I'm attempting to run a simulation on a network that has:
    - 10 computers with a TCP app, UDP app, echo client/server & dormant worm
    - 1 file server with TCP server app, UDP server app, echo client/server & dormant worm
    - 2 routers
    - 1 malicious device with an initially active worm app

All the worm applications have the same settings:
    r1: 11; r2: 2; r3: 1; r4: 25 (as there is only 1 subnet with IPs ranging in 10.1.0.x)
    srcPort: 3
    destPort: 6
    Delay: 1

I'm having difficulty running a simulation with the above mentioned settings. Basically, right after I start the simulation, I can see in the backend CMD screen that it attempts to scan for IPs that don't exist (eg: 8.0.1.0), but it eventually encounters an error and the simulation stops.

Does anyone else experience this? And will development on this project resume in the future?

I'm doing a research project and decided to use NESSIE, but I'm completely stuck since I can't run this particular simulation.

    Additional Info:
    - If i remove the profiles with the worm virus on, the simulation completes
    - Changing the n1-n4 values (or any other values for that matter) doesn't help
    - All the other applications have their default settings

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    -J

First, I will start with the easy answers. NeSSi2 is still underdevelopment and there will be updates, but we made some big changes in regard to executing simulations and are still a few months away from releasing a new version.

In regard to your problem: Since you found the other thread, I won't repeat the remarks I made there. What still would be interesting to know about your problem:

      • The length in ticks of your simulation
      • The exact error message that occurs

In the moment I don't have a clear idea what is going wrong. Without the error message it is also difficult to track down the problem. Since it seems not to be an issue of being unlucky with the randomly generated IPs.

I think I was able to reproduce your error (a NullPointerExecption). I also was able to fix this. In case your interested in an untested version of NeSSi2 I could profile you with an unofficial download URL. Please let me know for which operating system you would need a new version.
