#1 NESim won't launch on Matlab 6.5 R13

I tried NESim on Matlab 6.5 R13 and I got the following error message :

>> nesim
??? Error using ==> load
Unable to read MAT file C:\MATLAB6p5\work\nesim\api\nesim.fig

See FILEFORMATS for a list of known file types and the functions used to read them.

Error in ==> C:\MATLAB6p5\toolbox\matlab\iofun\hgload.m
On line 45 ==> fileVars = load(filename,'-mat');

Error in ==> C:\MATLAB6p5\toolbox\matlab\graphics\openfig.m
On line 89 ==> [figs, oldvis] = hgload(filename, struct('Visible','off'));

Error in ==> C:\MATLAB6p5\work\nesim\api\nesim.m
On line 46 ==> fig = openfig(mfilename,'reuse');

I have no idea about what caused this error.
The NESim package is installed in the file "Matlab\work",
the paths "NESim\api" and "NESim\NeuronData" are in the
Matlab path and my version of NESim is 5.1.1.

Any help would be of great value.
