5.2RC1 --- and version downloaded on 08/23/2001
When editing a .pl (Perl) file --- I get the following
message:
****
Style "Regex" named in pattern "re match class delims"
does not match any existing style
****
.. which results in no syntax-highlighting for [Perl].

Compiling on Linux (2.4.5 kernel) -- SuSE 7.2 -- with
Motif 2.1.30

This started to occur in versions of
'nedit-latest-sources.tar.gz' downloaded _after_
08/09/2001 --- DEVELOPMENT version July 2001--- and in
RC1 of 5.2

I have gone "backwards" to DEVELOPMENT version July
2001
because this one "works".

If I can fix this with settings, so forth, please
advise.

Thank you.

I _love_ this editor!

This happens when styles have been previously edited, so
there is a syle list saved in your .nedit file, but the
perl patterns have not, so the new builtin mode is used,
which uses the regex and warning styles (also built in, but
overridden by the saved styles. The same problem applies to
    XML mode.

The workaround is to create the new styles. This can easily
be done in the prefs dialogs, or by importing the file
    found in patch #459079.

This needs to be fixed before the final 5.2 release, though.

    Thanks for your prompt response.
I'll certainly take your advice about patch #459079.

..and I will be more helpful [to the community] in the
    future.
