Something in the widget hierarchy probably changed.

Is there a reason why you don't use the color dialog?

It's not supported anymore - use the colors dialog, which
    takes precedence.

Changing the colors was a common operation, and since few
people ever figure out how to write X resources, we wrote a
    user interface for it.

If you *require* X resources and saved colors doesn't work
(e.g., for specifying on the command line) let us know.

'Is there a reason why you don't use the color dialog?'

That's a good question. I just got accustomed to X resources
and somehow didn't realize there was another method.
Something has changed about the widgets and I spent quite
some time playing with editres trying to come up with a new
line before I have up. Sorry for wasting your time and
thanks to you both for the answer.

That's true; we did reorganize the widget hiearachy a bit to
    work around other problems.

Most users probably wouldn't notice. When you start nedit,
we import the X resource setting you had into the color
dialog, so it's easy not to be aware that any change was made.
