#387 Problems with Overtype mode

The Insert key does not update the "Overtype" prefs menu
checkbox. This has been true since at least 5.4.

Also, the Overtype mode does not carry over when a tab is
detached/moved, although the menu item is copied correctly.

If you split a window in overtype mode, the new pane is
*not* in overtype mode, which conflicts with the notion that it's a
per-document setting.

Finally, by playing with combinations of the Insert key and the
Overtype menu item I was able to get into a state where I couldn't
raise the prefs menu with alt-p. I'm having trouble reproducing
this reliably, however.

I wouldn't call this a critical bug, but it should be corrected.
