I specified in .nedit :
nedit.printCommand:kprinter
After restarting I got in the printer dialog still:
"lpr -j ....".

Using SuSe 9.0 with nedit :

    nedit.printCommand should not be put in your .nedit or
    .nedit/nedit.rc file, because it gets overwritten as soon as
    you save your preferences.
    You have to add it to your .Xresources or .Xdefaults file
    (see http://www.nedit.org/technotes/looks-1.php#resources
    for more information on X resources).
