Make a macro to do a replace_range of more than one
character.
Place cursor somewhere inside the range that will be
replaced.
Run macro.
Cursor is moved to beginnig of range.
Workaround of remembering and re-setting cursor does
not work for indent-macros.

If this is by design it should be documented.

    Nothing for 5.2.
And obviously nobody knows an answer :_)

Where would you want the cursor? At the same position from
the start of the range? From the end?

    It should be possible to
    TextGetCursorPos()/TextSetCursorPos(), but that could move
the cursor out of the initial range.

Again, how would you determine the new cursor position?

Joachim, how would you determine the new cursor position?

I don't think there is a definitive new cursor position.
Counts from both ends might fail, and a calculated position
based on the percentage before and after the change would be
    guesswork.

So in this light and due to the lack of response from the
    poster, I'll close this.
