Since the last update was some years ago I'd like to ask if the NDoc  project is still active/alive or if it is recommended to switch to an alternative like Sandcastle?

Anyway I like the idea of NDoc, NAnt, NUnit and the other N-projects ;-)

I had no problem using it, because the gui is excactly the same like the
beloved NDoc.

I haven't fully checked your error, but you should note the NDoc only
supports .Net 1.0 and 1.1.  Sadly the project is pretty much dead.  If you
need an alternative I suggest you look at Sandcastle and Sandcastle Help
File Builder.

Hi,

I am using NDoc 1.3 under MS 1.0, to document an assembly written in C++/CLI.
in my code I use a 
#pragma make_public(...)
to allow access to native C++ classes. 
I tried to use <exclude/> to prevent the classes from being included in the documentation, but the classes were included.
Is it a known bug? If not can anyone please provide an example?

NDoc always generates that silly thread-safety section that the MSDN libray also has:

Public static (Shared in Visual Basic) members of this type are safe for multithreaded operations. Instance members are not guaranteed to be thread-safe.

This is nonsense since there is no guarantee that a static method will not access global variables, singletons, files, network connections and so on without proper synchronization.

Please do not generate this by default. At least add a switch to disable this. Adding a <threadsafety> tag to all my classes is just cumbersome.

When using -ShowMissingParams / Remarks / Returns / Summaries / Values, please write messages to stderr instead of in the documentation and return non-zero.

To find these problems I now have to go through ALL my generated documentation manually and look for these errors. If one slips by, readers of the documentation think I work sloppy. (This is really bad when using NDoc for published APIs.)

If you return non-zero to the OS, my makefile would stop with an error here, making it impossible to not catch these problems.

Hi!

I've got a method like the following:
<Obsolete("Use new function instead"), System.ComponentModel.EditorBrowsable(ComponentModel.EditorBrowsableState.Never)> _
Public Function MyOldFunction() As String
'some code here...
End Function

This method is obsolete and shouldn't be used any more. But can't be dropped since some older applications might rely on that method and I want to be backwards-compatible.

That's why I marked this method as 
1. obsolete (to lead the programmer to use the new method if he's using it)
2. remove the method from the list of available methods in IntelliSense (so that a programmer who doesn't know the old method doesn't get confused by the old method)

Now, my request for NDoc is take care of this attribute System.ComponentModel.EditorBrowsable(ComponentModel.EditorBrowsableState.Never) as IntelliSense does, too: the documentation of the old/hidden method should not be visible.

Since the old/hidden method is still working and usable, my recommendation is to not drop this method from the documentation process but to drop the links referencing to documentation pages of this old method.

Issue:
When an array is passed into a method nDoc extracts the method as Class.Method(System.Byte[]) but in VB.net arrays use parens Class.Method(System.Byte()) so it does not find the tags for the the method.  I am not sure if this is a nDoc issue or a VBCommenter issue as the XML produced when the project is built contains the parens. See example below:

if I change the System.Byte() to System.Byte[] nDoc pulls the information perfectly.

When I set in NDoc GUI the DocumentProperties tag to true, the Serializable attribute is duplicated in class summary page. May be the reason is inheritence of this attribute from the base class, but I set the DocumentInherittedAttrubutes tag to false. So, the duplication of this attribute must not appear, but it appears.

I use NDoc 1.3.1, MS 1.1, invoke NDoc GUI, and prepare results in MSDN help file.

I am using Jay Nelson's utility so that I can use NDoc with managed C++ MS 1.1.   My managed class wraps an unmanaged set of C++ classes in a static library.  If I #include any of my unmanaged header files I get a Illegal characters in path error.

How can I track down these "illegal characters"?   Any ideas how to avoid this error?

I'm building my documentation from Sharp Develop,
and am getting the error:

Call.Event Method (ThisCallEvent#enumEventMethod, String, IAdiEvent)

Everywhere I see the enumEventMethod, it seems to replace the . before it with a #. Notice the # and . difference.

It should be:

Hello

I wrote a C# Webapplication and want to use NDoc for
gerenating the Documentation. I've set the XML-File in
my Project configuration and gives this file in the
"UseNDocXmlFile"-Parameter. I also set add the correct
assembly.

When i want to generate the documentation, it gives me
an exeption who says that there are no documentable
types in this project. I turned all visibility options
on and tried againg, same problem...

why don't this work? can someone help me ;) thx...
