Because there isnt one single team working on 2.0, there are several
variations of it built by different groups.
As far as im aware, the builds are so significatly different that it
would be impossible to merge all projects together and get 1 single
branch.

Looks like 1 project will have to be declared the "official" branch at
some point.

 From googling the web I can see that several alpha releases of NDOC 2.0
have been made so far, but none publicly. The source in CVS has not been
updated as well.

Why all the secrecy?
