I will try to be as detailed as possible, as I am experiencing a very
strange problem with ndiswrapper. I am running Gentoo with a 2.6
kernel on a Compaq R3290US laptop with the Broadcom BCM4306 802.11g
chipset. I used the Gentoo ndiswrapper ebuild and the Broadcom
Windows drivers from Compaq (bcmwl5). I am able to modprobe the
ndiswrapper module successfully. The interface does come up. I am
able to iwconfig to associate successfully with my AP. Both iwconfig
and ifconfig show active traffic on the interface.
Here's when things get weird:
I can use ethereal to monitor the interface and I see real, valid
traffic. I can see my ping attempts ARP the address, and I see the
ARP responses, but the responses go ignored and my PC just ARPs them
again and again. The same goes for DHCP if i try that. In ethereal
(both on the problem machine and on another on the network) I see the
DHCP request, and the DHCP offer, but the offer goes ignored and it
just sends another request. My kernel routing table is valid,
gateways and interfaces set correctly. I am not running any iptables
that would interefere with this.
It's making me CRAZY!!! If anyone out there has seen this or has any
ideas, I'd love to hear it!!!
Thanks in advance,
