im playing whit this toy from 2 days from windows installation i realized that this shit needs 2 drivers to work: bootloader, wich boots card and turns on this blue led and normal ndis driver. I installed latest ndiswrapper cvs and tried to load bootloader software but i had this error: Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper version 1.1rc1 loaded (preempt=yes, smp=no) Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:ZwReadFile Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:ZwQueryInformationFile Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:ZwCreateFile Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:IoSetDeviceInterfaceState Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:IoDetachDevice Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:PoSetPowerState Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:PoRequestPowerIrp Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:KeQuerySystemTime Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:IoBuildPartialMdl Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:KeInitializeTimerEx Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:IoRegisterDeviceInterface Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:IoAttachDeviceToDeviceStack Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:KeInsertQueueDpc Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:KeRemoveQueueDpc Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:wcslen Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: WMILIB.SYS:WmiSystemControl Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (import:238): unknown symbol: WMILIB.SYS:WmiCompleteRequest Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (load_sys_files:446): unable to prepare driver 'athfmwdl' Feb 6 15:56:06 duff kernel: ndiswrapper (ndiswrapper_load_driver:92): loadndiswrapper failed (11); check system log for messages from 'loadndisdriver' can you add all those symbols so i can load this athfmwdl and try to make this dongle works Ciao Matteo -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I heard if you play the NT-4.0-CD backwards, you get a satanic message." One or two functions can be implemented but those are not easy to, especially without hardware in hand to test. While on the context: It is not possible for us to support any chipset we don't have. If people submit patches to support devices, it will be great. Otherwise, especially as the number of devices supported grows, it is difficult to even maintain so at every release ndiswrapper works for all the chipsets. So I wrote to some vendors to send cards so ndiswrapper can support them. I got this reply from Netgear: From: "Netgear Support" <su...@ne...> To: pg...@ya... Subject: NETGEAR Support case +ACM-1333373 Date: Thu, 3 Feb 2005 21:30:21 -0000 Net...@ne... Dear Giridhar, Thank you for contacting Netgear Support. My name is Sudhir & I will be handling your enquiry. I understand your concern and appreciate the opportunity to assist you. I apologies, but it is not possible for us to send the card for development purpose, as NETGEAR is having developer who are currently working on this. Regards Sudhir Gupta Netgear Support su...@es... I wrote to them that since they can't send cards to us and since they are already working on Linux support, there is no point we supporting Netgear products. So if you have any concerns about Linux support for Netgear products, write to them and ask them to release Linux drivers. You could quote this email (the number on the Subject line probably helps them track) if you like. Except for US Robotics that sent me couple of cards, no other vendor responded to my request for sending cards. Giri |

That is very interesting! You should write it on the ndiswrapper web pages. (if I had known it one month ago maybe I would not have bought a netgear card) Alex. I am not trying to blacklist vendors just because they refused to send us cards. Of course you are free to make whatever choice you think is appropriate. I think writing to them and asking them about the supposed developer working on Linux drivers (quoting their own mail) would help - either they will back off from the claim, in which case they may, after all, want to send cards (which is lot cheaper than supporting even a single developer for a month) or they will work towards releasing Linux drivers (I doubt the second option will really work). Better yet, call them, quote the mail and demand to know when they will release Linux drivers for their products. Giri __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I have a WG511T card and I use it with the madwifi driver -- perhaps that's what they're alluding to. jch Alexandre Tessier wrote: > That is very interesting!
