Hello, since there is not much going on about my problem in the forum, i will make a resume about the problem, and my questions here. Compiling and installing the ndiswrapper module works fine. Loading the module works fine. After that the device apears in the kernel logs and iwconfig also displays it. When I come to: #iwlist wlan0 scan i get : No scan results. According to the FAQ there can be two possible reasons for this: 1. AP does not send SSID 1.1 How to make sure the AP really sends the SSID? 1.1.1 I can connect fine through WinXP. However does thes mean that the AP sends SSID? 2. Radio is off 2.1 Since my notebook (hp nx9105) has a hardware switch for radio devices ( i guess this includes bluetooth and infrared - a 3 in one switch!? ), which works fine under WinXP I think that radio is on. 3. Might there be any other reasons for not finding an AP? 3.1 I use ACPI. May this have powered down my chip? 3.2 When I push the "Radio on/off" button to power up the devices I get a kernel message: "ohci_hci: 0000:00:02.1: wakeup usb 3-2 new full speed usb device using address 3" However I do not know what device the kernel is talking about. 3.3 I use the "driver2" - may it be worth trying other drivers? (the one i got with the notebook, e.g.) I use this one since the comment on the chipset list: Works with 64 Bit machines that are crunched down to 32 Bit mode, which mine, An AthlonXP-3000M is. Thanks for your help. felix -- Linux. The choice of a GNU generation. |

Hi, I had similar problems which were solved when I changed the channel of my AP. I got best results with channel 6. I am not sure if you can change the channel of your AP, but if you can it is worth a try. good luck Zaher Felix Dorner wrote: > Hello, > > since there is not much going on about my problem in the forum, i will > make a resume about the problem, and my questions here. > > Compiling and installing the ndiswrapper module works fine. One other thing you can try is to rmmod and modprobe ndiswrapper, sometimes this also helps, I had to do it a couple of times before it could connect (I know.. not a real solution :) Felix Dorner wrote: >>I am not sure if you can change the >>channel of your AP, but if you can it is worth a try. > > > Unfortunately I wont be able to do this - I have no access to > configuring the APs here. > Thanks anyway, > > felix > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by: thawte's Crypto Challenge Vl > Crack the code and win a Sony DCRHC40 MiniDV Digital Handycam > Camcorder. Give HP's driver a test too. Make sure you get the latest from their support page. Pontus |
