I don't think it is an ndiswrapper problem because I have the same
problem under Windows 2000 but someone might have an idea...
I've got an SMC2802W PCI WLAN card and a Trendnet TEW-231BRP
DSL/Wireless router. The DSL connection is 384 kbit/s. However, if I try
the speed test of my ISP, I've only got 30-55-80, rarely 200 kbit/s.
Monitoring the network traffic also shows 4-5 seconds activity, then
4-15 seconds nothing, then activity again, and so on. I can see the same
when downloading bigger packages with wget.
The interesting thing is that if I start pinging the router, as long as
the ping goes, I have the full DSL bandwidth, speed test is between
350-400 kbit/s, and no pause when downloding with wget.
The upload speed is not affected by this pinging, it is around 80 kbit/s
anyway (this is ok, the ISP guarantees 64k)
I have a Debian with 2.6.4 kernel, ndiswrapper 0.7 (it is the same with
0.6). I could not test it with 0.8 because it can not connect to the AP,
I just can not set the ESSID, does not matter if I set the WEP key first
and then the ESSID or the other way round.
