Hello, I'm going NUTS with this. I hope someone has some insight... Ndiswrapper (0.8rc3, latest cvs build) is not loading automatically on Fedora Core 2. Using ndiswrapper 0.7, with a simple modprobe.conf like this: alias eth1 ndiswrapper options eth1 if_name=eth1 everything loads automatically. Of course it segmentation faults if you actually try to use it, which is why I'm looking at the 0.8rc3 build. The 0.8rc3 build works, no segmentation fault. However, it doesn't load automatically. I have to manually do "loadndisdriver -a" to get it to work. I've even tried all sorts of various "install" lines, such as install eth1 /usr/sbin/loadndisdriver -a >/dev/null 2>&1 ||: etc. nothing works. Developers, are you aware of this? I'm stuck... if it doesn't work I'm likely to do something like create an init script which does the loadndisdriver which is a terrible hack.... - Aaron -- Aaron Bennett UNIX Administrator Franklin W. FYI, I've submitted an FC2 version of the ndiswrapper package to the fedora.us repository. It's awaiting fedora.us QA now. See http://bugzilla.fedora.us/show_bug.cgi?id=1721 > loadndisdriver should never be in /usr/sbin. The correct place is /sbin. ahh. That's what was wrong. I'll fix my package to put it in the correct place. Thanks for your help! -- Aaron Bennett UNIX Administrator Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering |

Thanks for sending ndiswrapper upstream to Fedora. Hopefully they will distribute it. Most problems reported about ndiswrapper are from people using Fedora, so this will help us too. Please post here any status changes in Fedora (I myself don't have much hopes they will distribute it, especially due to 4K stacks, but would be glad to see it in Fedora). -- Giri |

I'll keep you posted. -- Aaron Bennett UNIX Administrator Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering |
