Hi all, I have a problem with my newly installed Gentoo Linux. Previously I had Fedora Linux (kernel 2.4.25) with which ndiswrapper and my SMC 2802W V2 worked perfectly. But when I load the module ndiswrapper with kernel 2.6.4-rc1 with Gentoo, the system crashes. Before it crashes, it shows several messages about which modes are enabled etc. The messages displayed are the same like with LFS and kernel 2.6.3. Has anybody an idea what the problem could be? The symptoms: Screen freezes and system hangs. Thank you for any hint. Aurel |

I remember somebody telling me that Gentoo kernels are usually custom patched. I suggest trying a vanilla kernel build from the standard kernel source, and then see what happens? Is it possible to set up a card running through ndiswrapper as an access point? 'iwconfig wlan0 mode master' tells me that the operation isn't supported: is this something inherent to using ndiswrapper? (I'm using a realtek 8180 chip and latest cvs). cheers, Mark -- is that supposed to be a poker face? was someone run over by a train? -- Fountains of Wayne, No Better Place |
