I think that's a bug in driver/Makefile. It doesn't link rt8180.o into the driver when DBG_REALTEK is defined. Add a line like this to the 'ifdef DBG_REALTEK' section: OBJS += rt8180.o Ron |

Giving up hope is still an option ;-) I couldn't get my Realtek card to work and eventually went with an ACX100. Using it now, in fact. Ron |

Hello, With the latest CVS, ndiswrapper no more associate with AP automatically :-( I can make "iwconfig wlan0 essid xyz" but I think when a public AP is available, ndiswrapper should associate with it. I suspected changes in wrapper.c so I retrieve version 1.127 from CVS and after loading ndiswrapper module, it associates with my AP like before :-) I don't use WEP... I don't know if this is a correct behavior or not !!!??? Thanks ;-) |

This change has been done due the delay for some cards to set the wepkey and things like that correctly. If it would enable essid too, it would be atleast another sec delay. Earlier ndiswrapper would set empty essid when starting. This has been removed from recent CVS commits. I am not sure if this should be part of the ndiswrapper itself. You should setup your wireless configuration so it sets empty essid ('iwconfig wlan0 essid any'). -- Giri |

You're right. In fact, this shouldn't be ndiswrapper part. So I get latest CVS and modify my wireless script. Works fine :-) Thanks Giridhar Pemmasani wrote: >Earlier ndiswrapper would set empty essid when starting. This has been >removed from recent CVS commits. Thanks. wlan0: ndiswrapper ethernet device 00:30:bd:4e:75:53 using driver bel6001.sys # iwconfig wlan0 wlan0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"" Mode:Auto Frequency:2.462GHz Access Point: FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF Bit Rate:11Mb/s Tx-Power:20 dBm Sensitivity=0/3 RTS thr:2432 B Fragment thr:2432 B Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:-95 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 unfortunately, I can't seem to change anything using the iwconfig command: when I try "iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed", I see wlan0: wireless mode set earlier (1) is not same as wireless mode now (2) in the logs. I have the debian package "wireless-tools" installed for iwconfig, version 26+27pre9-2 if that matters. Also, rmmoding the ndiswrapper module seems to hang my machine. Is that normal? Thanks again for all the help, I'd almost given up hope. Mark -- I love you more than anything in this world. I don't expect that will last. -- Elvis Costello |
