I was trying to set up that card in Linux 2.4.x and 2.6.x with oryginal drivers from the CD (ver. 2.11). That caused the error at loading (something like "Windows driver alocates too big a block") and then everything worked for few minutes until kernel crash. I was trying to change the drivers but even D-Link's tech. support didn't know where can I find the older version.
Finally I found Atheros drivers (like: http://www.netgate.com/info/miniPCI/Atheros/Drivers/vnc-cm9-330150.zip)
I don't know if anybody set up DWL-G510 correctly with default drivers. If not, I recommend to change or add Atheros drivers to http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/List
Thank you for ndiswrapper project

there is a project especially aimed at Atheros chipsets:
This may allow you to use some more advanced features (e.g. AP, Monitor
Mode) of your card.
