I've been spending a while trying to get one of my wireless cards working
(even went and bought another that supposedly had native linux support but
ran into another of those "changed chipsets without telling anyone"
Right now I've got a mostly-working Linksys WPC54G Ver 4 (Inprocomm 2220)
pcmcia card working. However the card craps out when trying to use any kind
gentoo, 2.6.12 r6
smp disabled (although i am using a p4)
Wireless-Tools version 27
Wireless Extensions v17

works with both drivers listed at the ndiswrapper compatibility list (i think
it's the same driver).
everything works except encryption.
when trying to set encryption dmesg shows a cannot set essid error - which I
find very odd considering: 1. it wasn't asked to change the essid, and 2. it
can set the essid just fine when not using encryption.
here's the exact dmesg error:
ndiswrapper (set_essid:58): setting essid failed (00010003)
