First, thanks to the developers for giving me some kind of hope regarding support for my wireless card.
Now, a little bit about my configuration. I have an Averatec 3200 series laptop. Fedora Core 2 Test 3 is my Linux distribution. I have compiled a 2.6.5 kernel. I am using driver2 for my card. I have ndiswrapper-0.7.
The laptop has a button specifically for wireless access. Whether it is hardware or software I'm not 100% sure. I am guessing software since I have to have Broadcom's program running.
So far, ndiswrapper has no problems detecting my card, nor loading as a module. The issue comes when I iwconfig the card and then ifup wlan0. It attempts to determine the information, but fails due to no link present. 'iwlist wlan0 scan' shows no results. This leads me to believe that the power isn't on.
I have tried several things according to documentation I've found. I have removed spinlock debugging in the kernel. I have also set 'powersavemode|1' in the /etc/ndiswrapper/bwmcl5/*.conf files. I have ried reloading the module with and without the wireless button pressed. I have also done 'iwconfig wlan0 txpower auto power all'. And I know that wireless lan is enabled in the kernel.
I had used the other driver when I started this. Personally, I don't see a difference between the files, except maybe the 'vendor'.
Attached are some relevant files: lspci, dmesg, iwconfig
Could anyone give me some hints regarding how to get this working. Maybe I need to modify the wlan_averatec_* program for this hardware?
