Could it be, that in the kernel configuration, the option "Hotplug
firmware loading support" must be enabled? If so, then this was the
problem. I built a new kernel and this change was one I made. Now, the
card works fine and I can unplug the network cable.

This is my first message here, as I am the brand new owner of a D-Link
DWL-610 PCMCI card. So, let me first say 'thank you' for your work!
As far as I know, this card is based on the Realtek 8180, which is known
to work from the version 6.0 (I know it is still experimental...)I thus
tried to install ndiswrapper (stable 0.6 as well as cvs version), but
could not make it work :-(I can load the driver (tried with realtek and
d-link driver) I get the following error message:
wlan0: wireless mode set earlier (1) is not same as wireless mode now (2)
and I cannot change any parameter.
Moreover, once the ndiswrapper module is loaded, my keyboard hangs, or
acts abnormally (I mean, when I type 'i', it enters 'iiiiiii'). I have
read that it could be linked to the fact that my card is not supported.
So, my question: what can I do to make it work? Is it possible with the
current version? (I doubt, but...). If not, how can I help you? (I am not
a developer, but can try testing)?
Moreover, would you ned help regarding translation in your project? (I am
a French native speaker)
thank you for those who will read and answer my mail!
