Sorry to be a bother, but I've tried everything and I can't get the bloody
thing to work.
Debian 3.1 "Sarge", kernel 2.6.8
D-Link DWL-G510 (Marvell chipset) using drivers as suggested on the wiki
ndiswrapper 1.5rc1@... (latest source)
I also upgraded to the latest wireless tools, etc.
Long story short: everything works until I actually try to use it. I can
ping my router, I can ping google.com (or whatever). I can send messages
in Gaim. But when I try to actually use it in Firefox, the system
completely hangs and I have to hard reboot (power button). I've tried
uninstalling and reinstalling, I've tried debug=3 and seen nothing
helpful. There's nothing helpful in dmesg (it reports all clear). The
hardware works in XP. I've tried just about everything I can think of. I'm
new to Linux but not new to computers.
Long story short: open to suggestions. I really want this to work.
Thanks in advance.
This issue keeps coming up. Every time someone complains about it, I have
requested that they submit debug trace so I can figure out what causes it. So
far no one has submitted it; instead, apparently, they resort to version 1.1
which supposedly works.
Read Wiki about how to obtain debug trace, use latest snapshot or CVS (not
1.5rc1), and send the full trace, including kernel oops message.
