You can run 32-bit code on the=20 x86_64 and since the NT kernel stuff is already emulated as far as the ndis= =20 driver is concerned, it should be possible.=20 The only thing I'm not sure about, is whether the Linux kernel code can be= =20 mixed with 32 bit code...=20 But then.. isn't it even possible to run the NT driver in user mode with pa= rt=20 of ndis wrapper in usermode too?! (and since Linux x86_64 can run 32-bit=20 Linux executables, it would solve that issue too). Regards, Karl |

Belkin F5D7010 could be added to the list of supported chipsets, as I am succesfully using ndiswrapper for it, on Mandrake 10.0. The native driver status is: Realtek 8139, rev 10. For you who are struggling with having the internetconnection to work: dont forget to remove your eth0, if you previously have been using it for internet. Fredrik Sandberg |

Hi all, I'm writing this on my nice new eMachines m6809 running Fedora Core 2 x86_64. Everything works surprisingly well, except ndiswrapper. :-) I have my eth0 currently plugged into a Linksys WAP54G for wireless access to my wireless router. I'd love to use the onboard card. I've been very impressed with ndiswrapper with my old laptop and Linksys card. The current issue building 0.8 is this: {standard input}: Assembler messages: {standard input}:2008: Error: `(%esp,1)' is not a valid 64 bit base/index expression make[3]: *** [/usr/src/ndiswrapper-0.8/driver/misc_funcs.o] Error 1 make[2]: *** [_module_/usr/src/ndiswrapper-0.8/driver] Error 2 The current CVS version doesn't get this far. So the question: Is anyone working on making this work 64 bit? If not, does anyone want to? :-) I'm more than happy to help as much as I can, but I haven't written any firmware in over 10 years. :-) At minimum, I'll be happy to test whatever needs testing. Just let me know what is needed. -Eric ;-) -- Eric Princen BoaterTalk, Inc. |

Hi Any ideas when (or if) promiscuous mode will be implemented in ndiswrappe= r? I'd really like to use vmware in bridged mode with my wlan device. Btw thanks for this great software. cheers Gustavo |

Hello List! I have a realtek 8180 chipset on a pcmcia wireless nic. I followed the instructions from http://portal.suse.com/sdb/de/2004/04/pohletz_ndiswrapper.html I am running suse 9.1 and ndiswrapper-0.6-23. I used the driver ftp://152.104.125.40/cn/wlan/rtl8180l/winxp-8180(169).zip Loading the driver and ndiswrapper works fine, but when i check it with dmesg, i get this error: ndiswrapper: unsupported module, tainting kernel. ndiswrapper version 0.8 loaded ndiswrapper adding rtl8180.sys PCI: Enabling device 0000:02:00.0 (0000 -> 0003) ACPI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 0000:02:00.0 PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:02:00.0 to 64 ndiswrapper: error log: C000138C, length: 0 (c8273e30) ndiswrapper: Windows driver couldn't initialize the device rtl8180.sys: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -22 The FAQ told me to turn off pcmcia, which i did. But then my pcmcia card does not lite up with the power light. But i still got the same error. Any ideas? Thanks, Mario |
