Hi. I'm having trouble getting my Broadcom wlan to work on my AMD Turion laptop, a Compaq nx6125. The only drivers I've found that recognize the wlan card are the ones supplied by HP - they can be found is a Windows executable at http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/hpcpqnk/us/download/22737.html After I install them, I get # ndiswrapper -l Installed ndis drivers: bcmwl5 driver present, hardware present When I do "modprobe ndiswrapper" I then get ndiswrapper (check_nt_hdr:152): Windows driver is not 64-bit; bad magic: 010B ... which I guess means exactly what it says. The kernel then oopses (non-fatally). I've tried the 64-bit drivers at http://ubuntuforums.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=186 but with them I don't get the "hardware present" message. I've looked at the driver info under Windows and this is what I found: ------------ Date: 2/11/2005 Version: 3.100.64.0 Device instance ID: PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4324&SUBSYS_12F9103C&REV_03\4&1C88B56&0&10A4 Memory range: D0010000 - D0011FFF IRQ: 22 Hardware IDs: PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4324&SUBSYS_12F9103C&REV_03 PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4324&SUBSYS_12F9103C PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4324&SUBSYS_12F9103C&REV_03&CC_028000 PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4324&SUBSYS_12F9103C&REV_03&CC_0280 Matching device id: pci\ven_14e4&dev_4324&subsys_12f9103c Class installer: Netcfgy.dll.NetClassInstaller ------------------------------- Under linux, lspci tells me 0000:02:02.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4309 802.11a/b/g (rev 03) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company: Unknown device 12f9 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 64, IRQ 5 Memory at d0010000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K] I've tried with ndiswrapper 1.2 as well as CVS, and also tried appending acpi=noirq to the kernel options, none of which made a difference. Please let me know if you need any more information. Regards, Johan ____________________________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs |
