more iwlist scan problems

    here is the setup:
Acer Aspire 3690 laptop (new 4 days ago)
Atheros AR5005G wireless chipset(not yet supported in madwifi)
    2.6.17-gentoo-r8 kernel
    ndiswrapper v1.2-r1 from portage
Foxconn windows driver as suggested on the list
    wpa_supplicant v0.4.9 from portage

    here is the problem:
    stargazerLappy ~ # iwlist wlan0 scan
    wlan0 No scan results

also, when i use wpa_supplicant it does not find any APs, regardless of setting it to scan for a known ssid or to broadcast for available ssid's. the router is set up to broadcast the ssid.

when i first tried to get the madwifi driver to work, i noticed the little orange wifi light was solid, but now, once i modprobe ndiswrapper, it blinks at a slow but constant rate, and is completely off when i remove ndiswrapper. I suspected it was a radio off thing, but rfswitch wont work with this hardware, and the setting in /etc/ndiswrapper/net5211 specifically say radioEnable|1

thanks to anyone who reads this, special thanks to anyone who can help.
